We wanted to focus on Roman chamomile research. What potential health benefits do the studies point to when it comes to the use of this herb?

Roman chamomile (Chamaemelum nobile) is one of the two major types of chamomile used for health purposes. German chamomile and Roman chamomile are similar in their uses. German chamomile is more potent and more common (read more here).  Most of the research has been done using German chamomile.

Roman chamomile is known as a medicinal plant since the middle ages. The name Roman chamomile was first bestowed upon the plant by Joachim Camerarius in 1598, after observing it growing abundantly near Rome (Abramson et al., 2010). (14)

Roman chamomile flower is an official herbal substance of several pharmacopoeias including the European Pharmacopoeia (Ph. Eur. 2008). (14)
